Board of Directors Meeting


Meeting was called to order at 6:43 pm at the Topinabee Community Church. Members present were Tony Naylor, Herm Boatin, Deb Chapman, Duane Engstrom, Gray Fischer, Jill Lynch, Mary O’Hare and Kevin Prediger. Absent board members were Sandie Lawson, Linda Neuss, Darrell Schwalm and Al Terry.

Motion to approve the Minutes of the April Board Meeting by Gray Fischer, supported by Duane Engstrom, motion carried.

Guest Shawn Medvec presented a proposed upgrade to our website. He discussed the need for more user interaction and showed us some of the added features and improvements with a PowerPoint presentation. Costs to improve the website and cover fees is $819. The board agreed to hire Shawn to revamp our website he sent Gray Fischer a bill which will be paid.

Treasurer’s Report by Gray Fischer. No major activity. To be noted, we are about $700 dollars behind last years dues. The board discussed additional thoughts to grow our membership. Suggestions are a Facebook page and coming up with a way to send personal letters with hand signatures of board members. Motion to approve Treasurers report by Mary O’Hare, supported by Jill Lynch, motion carried.

Annual Meeting Saturday August 5, 10am at the Hackmatack.

TOMCWC speaker will be Eli Baker on the Shoreline Stewards program.

Tony will do publicity including a newsletter to be sent in July and ads in the Straitsland Resorter and  Cheboygan Tribune.

Old Business –

Rain Garden in Topinabee. Mary O’Hare reported that the TOMCWC is involved and has offered to assist in grant writing.

Boat Wash Update – planned for July 7 and 8 at Mullett Village DNR boat launch.


New Business-

Tony, Darrell and Herm will be attending Lake Summit June 19, 2017.

Mary shared a letter from a home owner about invasive plant Japanese Knot Weed, which is not a lake issue.


Motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:01 pm by Gray Fischer, supported by Duane Engstrom, motion carried.
